Marianne Williamson once said “Your playing small does not serve the world. There’s nothing enlightened about shrinking so that other people won’t feel insecure around you.” I want to add a caveat to that, it also serves you in no way to hold yourself back from doing something because you look around and feel no one else is doing it.
We all have a need to fit in. It’s been ingrained in us since we have been children. It’s uncomfortable to do things that are outside of the norm. But in life, and even if you have a business, sometimes doing things different from how it is always done, is the best thing you can do. To do things like everyone else doesn’t get you to stand out, instead it keeps everything safely the same. However, without change, there is no growth. Sometimes it’s best to challenge the norm. Sometimes it’s the best way to be you.
So, yes, give yourself permission to be the trail blazer. You never know who is watching what you do. You never know who you will inspire. You never know who you will give courage to, so that they may be a trailblazer themselves.
So how are you a trailblazer?
